You are invited to participate in an ongoing citizen science project, monitoring sea stars in Yachats this summer.

The data collected gets used to help researchers understand the cause of sea star wasting syndrome and how it changes with time and location. For several years, the CoastWatch program of the Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition has been counting sea stars and looking for signs of illness at this location, adjacent to Cape Perpetua Marine Protected Area. Starting in 2018, the Cape Perpetua Collaborative stepped in to coordinate the surveys at Yachats State Park.

No advance training required. MAX volunteer limit of 10. RSVP required to participate in this citizen science project.
