The Oregon State University’s Hatfield Marine Science Center announces new educational experiences for the Fall. Registration and contact information is noted in the program descriptions.

Weird Science: Family Home School Day: Friday, October 20, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Science can be pretty strange — especially in the ocean! Families will come explore the bizarre habitats and animals of the ocean and how scientists explore the extreme environments. Each family will choose a track to follow for the day. All tracks are for all ages, but we do have suggestions depending on the age of your family members. If your family is mostly young, the Tubeworm track is the best option. For very mixed ages we suggest the Zoea track. Mostly older children? We suggest the Serpent track.

$25.00 per person. For this event, families will participate in educational programs together (each group of children must be accompanied by at least one adult). Pre-registration is required and space is limited! On the first tab it will ask “Is this registration for…” and gives you the choice of “Me” or “My child or dependent”. Make sure to select “Me” for the correct form to open.

High school students come spend the day interacting with researchers, doing hands-on activities and explore behind the scenes as they investigate a wide range of careers in marine science. Pre-registration is required, $30.00 per participant. To register, visit click here. Adults will need to register for their child or dependents. Set up your profile then add your dependents.
