Come explore marine habitats and their inhabitants, conduct experiments in our wet labs, and learn about scientific techniques and current research.
For this program students are divided by grade levels, PK-1st, 2-4th, 5-7th, and 8-12th, $30 per student. PK-1st grade students need to be accompanied by an adult the entire program.

Do you know of a high school student interested in marine science? Encourage them to join us for one of our career day events where students have the opportunity to interact with researchers, try out scientific techniques, and learn about a variety of marine science career options. Looking for a unique, marine science-themed summer day camp opportunity for your child? We offer summer day camps for ages 8-18 years. Campers have the opportunity to interact with researchers during hands-on activities and experience Oregon coastal habitats. Cost is $185 per camper, pre-registration is required, and space can fill quickly – act fast!
Coastal Explorers Camp: July 8 – 11, Ages 15-18
Marine Mammals Camp: July 15 – 18, Ages 13-14
Ocean Investigation Camp: July 22 – 25, Ages 11-12
Crusty Crustaceans Camp: July 29 – August 1, Ages 8-10

Shark Day: Saturday, January 12, 2019, 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Join us for the annual Shark Day necropsy at the Visitors Center in Newport. This year the necropsy will be performed on a salmon shark. Educators and scientists will answer questions for visitors during this close up event that aims to educate visitors about sharks and their environment.
Fossil Fest: Saturday, February 9, 2019, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Visit the center for this exciting annual event. Bring your beach finds for identification, see special fossil exhibits, and swap stories with other rock hounds.
